NotesIf we are going to vote for Obama; if we really believe that Romney is a much worse choice; if we believe that progressive issues like abortion rights and gay marriage deserve more attention and resistance than foreign policies that allow for the murder of children and innocents, the redefinition of war, and the merging of banks with the state; if we are committed, no matter what, to casting our votes for Obama--okay. But let’s please do so with our eyes open. Let’s please do the research and understand who and what we are voting for, including the things we may not want to know, the things that might break our hearts if we knew them. Let’s please be honest with ourselves about our choice and why we are making that choice. If we take the time to educate ourselves on the realities of the practices of this administration and we still choose it, with all of that critical analysis standing alongside us in the voting booth, with our eyes and our minds wide open, then I have no argument. But it does not serve us, or the future of this country, or the future of this world, to vote with ignorance and denial in our hearts, and with our heads in the sand.
